ROWING

The day calls: the studio needs to be organized, the post office visited, art supplies unpacked, more paints to order, work photographed and paintings painted. If I could describe my thoughts in a series of paintings of attending to the day it might look like this:

Row, row, row the boat...

A TOUCH OF CLOUD

"I often painted fragments of things because it seemed to make my statement as well as or better than the whole could."

THE ROAD

My period of indecision is over---I a[m] going west...it can be quietly--naturally...It is what I want to do for my work-and I have been so very well after the summer out there...the country seems to call one in a way that one has to answer it.

BACK TO EASTERN STANDARD

I am back to the east coast and eastern standard time.  My trip to New Mexico was an amazing adventure like riding the high seas in a small boat.  I spent lots of lovely hours in Albuquerque with my brother and his family, my dad and my husband.  Then to Taos for an intense time of painting and meeting fellow artists.  After that it was on to Ghost Ranch with friends from Colorado.  We explored O'Keeffe country and vowed to return next year and spend more time in this inspiring land.  From there we traveled south and saw many wonderful galleries and museums in Santa Fe.  And by Sunday upon returning to Albuquerque I was lucky to have more time with my brother, sister-in-law and nephew.  I want to remain in the time zone of the land of enchantment.

FLORAL FLUX

Here is another flower painting that revealed its true personality.  In the process of discovery this image the title also emerged: Searching for Ali Baba.  And so it is.  Watercolor  22 x 30 on 300 lb paper

TRANSITION

This painting above went through many stages in development and the final product is nowhere near the original intent.  It was an interesting zig and zag of moving paint around and discovering where the painting wanted to end.
