SLIP # 5

My painting Slip # 5 was just accepted into the 5th Annual Open ISAP (International Society of Acrylic Painters) International Online Exhibition.  The juor is Skip Lawrence.  I am very excited to have another one of my slip paintings accepted into the ISAP.  Last year my painting, Slip # 7, won an award in the 15th Annual ISAP Open Exhibit in Paso Robles, CA.   I love good news on a Monday!

Watercolor & India Ink
8.5" x 6.5"

A client asked me today if I did any small paintings.  I had to think a minute since I've been working large on my circles.  Then I remembered my small paintings from last November at the Vermont Studio Center.  I have 36 of these photographed.  These are small averaging about 6 x 8 inches and are all watercolor with some also in India ink. Might be fun to post some of them.

This painting, "Tracing the Journey," will be included in the upcoming group show "A Room of Our Own," opening on March 28th at the Concord Art Association.  An artists' reception will be held on opening night from 6 - 8 PM.  I hope you can join us - eleven artists in one self-coaching group!

The March circle is progressing.  I have been going to the studio some days just to do application of paint as I am working on some paintings at home. This month's version I'm experimenting with Golden's fluid acrylics in black and white alternating with gesso.

Here's a close up of some fresh gesso.

My next show is the Best of Rocky Neck from April 4th - 28th at the Cultural Center at Rocky Neck.  My painting "The Route Not Taken," from my new series called Journeys will be in this show. This work is mixed media on paper, frame size 36 x 28.  Over 60 artists will be participating in this exhibit.  Please join us for an artists' reception on Saturday, April 6th at 4 PM.

My January/February circle (above) is almost done.  This is acrylic on canvas measuring about 5 x 5 feet.  I started the March circle below on white gessoed canvas.  This is the same size as above.  I hope to make a circle everyday alternating black and white acrylic but so far for March I am already two days behind.  It is my studio ritual upon arrival and right after I make a cup of tea.  I find performing small rituals set me right in my space.

Watercolor/India Ink

Today I caught up with my studio list.  Top of the list is photographing the many small painted sketches I did while at the Vermont Studio Center last November.  There are 36 in the pile. And these are now shot, formatted and filed as digital images.  Since I have interested parties in some of these paintings I can let them go knowing a record of their existence is complete.
