MAPPING 2

This painting has gone through many revisions since I posted it on Saturday and still I am not quite satified with this yet.   Here is another painting of my Journeys series  that may be finished.  There are road maps collaged on both of these.  Once I get better images taken I can show some close-ups on the layered details.  Both are 30 x 22 mixed media on 300 lb CP paper.

WEEKEND UPDATES

This painting I started on Friday and resolved a lot of the space and color relations today.  I think I will leave it for awhile.  These images I have posted the last few days are taken with my phone, so not very sharp, but one can see hints of a road map on the lower right.

MAPPING

Work in progress with tape and all.  I am continuing with my Journeys series by collaging old road maps onto 300 lb paper then adding layers of mixed media revealing and obscuring sections of the map.  I have several paintings in various states of completion going right now. I plan to record the paintings' stages of construction since I am experimenting with new concepts and different acrylic gels in this group.  To see more of this series please visit my website.

APRIL CIRCLE

My April circle is undergoing some interesting mixing of gesso, india ink and Golden's fluid acrylics.  This is a detail on one section. After painting a circle a day, I hang it while wet and wait to see what develops over night.  I love seeing the surprises in the morning and the random paths the paint will take.

REWORKING WORK

I have been reworking some paintings done last November while at the Vermont Studio Center.  These have old road maps collaged onto handmade paper.  I then layered with paint and acrylic media to hide and reveal parts of the map.  An aerial view is what I am trying to avoid in this series.

A bad photo but you may get the idea of my concept.  I am liking the transition of these from problem paintings to possibilities.

Even though Thursday night was a late night at the studio due to our photo shoot I was back there yesterday pushing paint around. It was a good day working on a few paintings.

PHOTO SHOOT

Last night a photo shoot took place in our studio.  New work by Christiane Corcelle was shot by art photographer Pip Shepley.  Photographer assistants were Wendy Young and Martha Wakefield.

We cannot revealed the artwork photographed until it hits the galleries but it is a very exciting new body of work kept under wraps by Christiane this past year.  Stay tuned!

More photo events will take place in the weeks to come as Wendy and Martha are also developing exciting new series and are in need of this photographer!
